Team 8-2

A proud Rock Hill, SC native, Mrs. Akosua Amponsa brings a unique blend of experience from homeschooling and public school teaching, most recently serving middle school students in Charlotte-Mecklenburg. With a Master's degree in Education and a heart for Secondary English Language Arts, she’s all about helping students grow into confident, thoughtful communicators.
When she’s not diving into books with her students, you can find her gardening, lifting weights, or spending quality time with her family. She believes that building strong relationships is the key to unlocking student potential: “When trust is built, magic happens and there emerges a student ready, willing, and excited to learn.”
She’s thrilled to be joining the Falcon community and can’t wait to support and connect with students on their journey!

What is your favorite thing about teaching or being at Sullivan?
My favorite thing about teaching is that I love to encourage my students to think about and use what they know to come up with appropriate solutions to math problems.

What is one way you "sharpen the saw" and take care of yourself?
Outside of teaching, my biggest hobby is being a musician! I play 7 different instruments, and I am a member of the Charlotte Civic Orchestra. To take care of myself and relax, I enjoy traveling to new cities and places and connecting with nature
